Therapy in english
Psychotherapy in Copenhagen — in English
I’m a male psychotherapist based in Copenhagen, offering individual and couples therapy in English. My focus is to help you gain more clarity, calm, and balance in your life.
Whether you’re going through personal challenges, relationship issues, or just need a space to reflect, therapy can give you new perspective and tools to handle what life brings. We can’t change the past, but we can choose how to deal with thoughts, feelings, and patterns here and now.
I work from an existential approach, focusing on what really matters to you and how you can navigate life with greater presence and freedom.
How many sessions?
Some people just need a few sessions during a tough time, others prefer a longer process. We’ll find the right pace together.
Why a male psychotherapist?
Many men appreciate speaking with someone who understands male perspectives on emotions and relationships.
Women often find it helpful to explore relationship themes with a male therapist in a safe, supportive space. For couples, it can bring a good balance to conversations.
Individual Psychotherapy
A personal space for clarity, calm and change
Individual therapy offers a safe, confidential space where you can pause, reflect, and explore your thoughts, feelings, and life experiences. It’s your time — free from pressure or expectations — to focus on what matters to you, where you’ve been, and where you’d like to go.
Together, we’ll work towards greater clarity, strengthen your inner resources, and find ways to meet life’s challenges with more freedom, ease, and authenticity.
What can we work on?
Therapy can help with many different concerns, including:
- Stress, anxiety, or low mood affecting your everyday life
- Relationship challenges or difficulties in communication
- Life crises such as grief, divorce, or significant changes
- Feeling stuck, unmotivated, or lacking direction
- A desire for personal growth and deeper self-understanding
What to expect
Therapy isn’t just about solving problems — it’s about creating space for insight, calm, and new perspectives. Many people find they gain:
- Greater clarity and understanding of their emotions
- New ways to manage stress and navigate life’s ups and down
- A sense of calm, strength, and agency
- Clearer, kinder communication in relationships
Sessions last 55 minutes and focus on what feels most important to you right now. You decide the pace, and we shape the process together.
Couples Therapy
When the relationship feels difficult
Couples therapy is for those facing challenges in their relationship that seem hard to resolve on your own. It can help with:
- Poor communication, arguments, or recurring conflicts
- Lack of emotional or physical closeness
- Infidelity, jealousy, or trust issues
- Life crises such as loss or illness
- Feeling disconnected or lonely together
- Missing desire or passion
- A wish to strengthen your relationship and grow together
Why do problems arise?
Over time, couples often drift apart, finding it more difficult to share their thoughts and feelings openly. Misunderstandings build up, and old patterns can create distance instead of closeness. Sometimes, the issue is poor communication; other times, it’s a deeper breach of trust.
How can couples therapy help?
- Create a safe space for open, honest conversations
- Understand your behaviours, emotions, and unspoken signals
- Learn to express needs without pushing your partner away
- Break through stuck conflicts and explore new ways to be together
A new way to reconnect
As your therapist, my role is to help slow down the conversation, encouraging you both to truly listen to each other — without blame or defensiveness. This opens up space for understanding and helps rebuild closeness.
I offer 85-minute couples therapy sessions at my practice in Nørrebro, Copenhagen. If you’d like to connect before booking, I also offer a free 10-15 minute introductory phone call.

The Benefits of a Male Psychotherapist
As a male psychotherapist, I can offer a perspective that may feel familiar or relatable to men, especially when it comes to topics like gender roles, relationships, and emotional challenges.
For women, it can be valuable to gain a different viewpoint and explore relational dynamics with men in a safe and supportive space.
Couples often find that having a male therapist brings a sense of balance to the conversations — particularly when working with communication and relationship issues. My focus is always on creating a safe, open, and respectful environment for everyone, regardless of gender.

About Martin – Certified Psychotherapist (MPF)
I completed my psychotherapy training in 2010 and have since worked full-time in private practice, gaining extensive experience in both individual and couples therapy. I’m passionate about helping people navigate life’s challenges and build stronger, more meaningful connections — with themselves and with others.
From 2011 to 2015, I worked with TUBA, providing individual therapy, group sessions, and volunteer coordination for young people from families affected by substance abuse. For six years, I also volunteered as a helpline counselor at Livslinien, offering support and a listening ear to people in crisis.
Alongside my therapeutic work, I have a creative background. From 1997 to 2001, I studied Film and Television at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), an experience that continues to inspire my work and outlook on life.
I am a certified member of the Danish Psychotherapist Association (MPF).
